SKULPTURA KNEZA DOMAGOJA I NJEGOVIH STRIJELACA
The monument Domagoj’s archers
(dim. about 5 x 3 m) made by
sculptor Stjepan Skoro lies to the
west of the church of Our Lady of
the Snows. It depicts the Croatian
Prince Domagoj (864 to 876 AD),
three archers and one spearman
in a traditional boat. These boats
are used in the Neretva region,
and they originated in the Middle
Ages. The boat (“lađa”) is a symbol
of the Croatian dominance
over the eastern Adriatic coast,
initiated by prince Domagoj.
